A Las Vegas judge just cracked the whip on the juice. He is going to have to serve 15 years before he's even eligible for parole. He will serve somewhere from 16-21 years if he has to finish out the sentence.
The family of Nicole Brown Simpson was at the courthouse for the reading of the sentence.

NFL Players with Guns
Here's a different perspective on the issue. I've got so many mixed feelings about all of this, its hard to keep things straight or even develop a real opinion! To that end, I want to bring you all as much information as possible so you decided how you feel about it all.
We all remember the Sean Taylor tragedy from almost exactly a year ago, and the outpouring of emotion around the NFL. It has been said that Sean Taylor would be alive if he had a gun that day. It has also been said that Sean Taylor would be alive if NO ONE had a gun that day.
I visited McFaddens on 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue last Sunday, and I had a great conversation with Alex, a Bill's fan. She echoed the sentiment that life as a superstar athlete isn't always as glamorous as it looks on television. These guys deal are often seen as targets. Some of them come from rocky backgrounds in violent places. Like it or not, many NFL players do feel the need to carry weapons. Why they don't feel the need to legally register these weapons is beyond me.

Shut Your Pie Hole Bloomberg
How can NYC's Mayor Bloomberg call for the courts to "throw the book" at Plaxico Burress when he hasn't yet been convicted of a crime and the investigation is just beginning? What happened to "innocent until proven guilty"?
Shut up and let the police and courts do their jobs, Bloomy. I'm disappointed in Plaxico and I'm disappointed in you too.

Plax Update
Here's what we know so far:
Plaxico Burress showed up to a Manhattan criminal court this morning and was arraigned on two separate counts of criminal possession of a handgun in the second degree after accidentally shooting himself in the thigh Friday night at a club in Midtown. He posted bail of $100,000 and must return to court on March 31, 2009. If convicted, Plax would face a mandatory sentence of 3 ½ years in state prison, with a maximum of 15 years for on each count.
Reports are that Burress was in the VIP area of the nightclub messing with the waistline of his pants when the .40 caliber pistol accidentally discharged. Burress and his entourage, including Giants teammate Antonio Pierce, then left the club. Burress was taken to the hospital shortly thereafter and released Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the gun somehow ended up in Antonio Pierce's car with the magazine missing and the chamber cleared. Pierce could also be facing charges if police discover that he hid or attempted to hide the gun.
This shit is getting deep!! Stay tuned! I'm still not sure how to process all of it. I'm just so glad no one was seriously injured. I can't even begin to wrap my head around how the Giants organization will respond. Personally, now that I know there were no critical injuries or casualties, I'm focusing on the playoffs and not much else!

Michael Vick Out of the Slammer
And on his way to a fresh new jail cell, right where he belongs.
Michael Vick is back in VA today where he will once again be facing dogfighting charges. He is in isolation in protective custody, but is supposedly being treated just like any other prisoner.
He is expected to plead guilty in a deal with prosecutors that calls for a suspended sentence and probation.
We at the LLR hope he gets the maximum sentence.

Tazered? Really, Dude?
Now in the spirit of bringing class to a team instead of being surrounded in some foolish drama, I would like to take a minute to talk about Tampa Bay Bucs safety, Donte Nicholson. Early Sunday Morning, Donte Nicholson got into a scuffle with security guards outside a bar and was twice tazered before he was eventually arrested.
Nicholson... while I don't necessarily know that the police needed to twice taze your dumb, dumb ass, I need to question... What the hell were you doing that caused the cops to feel that was necessary? You know how many times I have been to a bar? 16, 000, 342. You know how many times I have been nailed with a tazer? ZERO.
According to reports, Donte was outside and as it was closing time, when he tried to re-enter the bouncers wouldn't let him. Now instead of turning tail and going home (as I am sure by closing time, you had your drink going on already), Nicholson decided to flash his blinging watch, hit a security guard in the face with it, and then try to proclaim he plays for the Bucs. Tampa Bay hasn't won a Super Bowl in the last 5 years. You know what was big 5 years ago? Lumidee. Yeah, no one remembers her either, Donte. Jon Gruden ought to bench your ass for acting such a fool.
Or next time the women of LLR will taze you before the police even know you're acting up.
