I Warned You A David Lee Blog Was Coming

I stand by my teams (and my boyfriends) no matter what. The Knicks aren't the Eastern Conference powerhouse they used to be, but that doesn't mean I love them any less. Since a return to glory is probably a season or two away (after we get this Stephan Marbury situation figured out, deal him out of here, and free up some salary cap space), I have to get excited about the little things. It's the small victories that are making me happy this season, like the way we took down Golden State a few weeks ago, and how we embarrassed the Grizzlies in Memphis. One game at a time.

I am also taking great joy in the fact that the Knicks are SHOCKING the fantasy basketball world right now! Allow me to quote Fantasy Writer Jeff Lippman, in an article entitled Unbe-Lee-vable.

With Christmas time and the holidays fast approaching, Mr. Fantasy implores owners not to look gift horses in the mouth. Don't take what you've been given by the grace of God and Isaiah Thomas and flush it down the toilet.

Don't follow? I'm talking, of course, about the curious case of the New York Knicks and their magical Fantasy point-producing offense under coach Mike D'Antoni. The Knicks have been the source of a number of Fantasy breakouts this season. Nobody could have predicted Chris Duhon's emergence as a top Fantasy point guard. Who ever thought Al Harrington would average 27 points per game? It would have taken a Fantasy clairvoyant to forecast the incredible leap in value made by Wilson Chandler, Tim Thomas, Quentin Richardson and Nate Robinson this year.

But with all those guys above, right now there is one Knick who is standing out from all the rest and taking the league by storm. With 16 double-doubles in his first 25 games, David Lee is third in the NBA behind only Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, which is some pretty sweet Fantasy company.

David Lee has been great lately but I keep hearing pundits express concern that playing, more specifically defending, bigger centers every night will wear on him as the season goes along -- it was unnerving to see Shaq knock him around Monday night. Is now the time to move him? Is his value is as high as it will ever get? -- Chilibon Karakachanov, New York

JL: The "pundits" you are talking about are worried because the ambidextrous Lee has been suffering from a bad back in recent days. That back problem forced Lee to finish with just 10 points and one rebound in 24 minutes on Dec. 10 at the Nets, snapping his 10-game double-double streak in the process. All Lee has done since is average almost 17 points and 15 rebounds in his last three games. Plus, in 31 minutes banging against Shaq, you say he got tossed around, we say he still recorded 15 points and 12 boards and shot 7-of-9 from the floor.

Lee is a pretty tough character and we think, for better or worse, he'll be able to stay healthy throughout this season. That said, his value is not going anywhere. He's only getting better and better in his fourth year in the league out of the University of Florida. You could certainly trade him and expect to get very good value in return, but if his unexpected value has helped you thus far there is no need to worry about it dropping off anytime soon.

JEFF LIPPMAN IS MY NEW BFF. In case you haven't heard, singing David Lee's praises is the perfect way to get on my good side. If only fantasy points were directly equivalent to NBA wins. My Knicks would be well on their way to a division title.

Whatever. I'm still going to enjoy the hell out of this.

A Few Of My Favorite People

I'm watching Knicks vs. Suns right now and several of my favorite players from over years are on the floor tonight, including David Lee, Chris Duhon, Steve Nash, Shaquille O'Neil, and Grant Hill.

Chris Duhon and and Grant Hill are Duke alums, so they have my undying loyalty forever and ever amen. When Duke won its second straight NCAA Championship in '92, I wanted to be Mrs. Hill, even though I was only 10 years old. I demanded his sneakers for Christmas when they first came out. I even changed my favorite soda because "Grant Hill Drinks Sprite."

Shaq is just a legend. When he came onto the scene, I'd never seen anything like him, and he just blew my mind. He's become a superstar and a phenomenon since then. Love him or hate him, you've got to respect him no matter what.

Steve Nash became an elite NBA player under Coach Mike D'Antoni. His recent MVP seasons were electric. I'll always respect Nash and D'antoni for resurrecting basketball in Phoenix. Plus Steve Nash is Canadian, and I love me some Canadians.

I realize some of you might be getting sick of me talking about David Lee, so I'll spare you this one time. Believe that he will be the subject of a blog before the week is over. You've been warned.

Tonight is Coach Mike D'antoni's first game back in Phoenix since he left the team under less than happy circumstances last off season. He received a standing ovation from the Phoenix crowd. I think its great that they showed D'Antoni the respect he was due. I'm even more glad that he's coaching in New York now :)

I keep changing from this game over to Browns vs. Eagles on Monday Night Football. This game is about to be a blow out...

Boogie's Favorite Boyfriend Has A Boo-Boo

My poor baby, Knicks F David Lee, fell during Wednesday night's game against the Nets and bruised his lower back. He's listed as questionable for Saturday's game in Sacramento. Hopefully he'll be back in action soon because I need the fantasy points! D, if you need me to nurse you back to health, just say the word :)

HA!

Boogie's First Attempt at Fantasy Basketball

I'm doing Fantasy Basketball on CBSSports.com this season, and our draft was last week. I couldn't think of a clever team name, so I just used ORANGE AND BLUE (Knicks and Mets colors, of course!) I managed to come away with the following players on my team:

Duhon, Chris PG NY
Ginobili, Manu SG SA
Rondo, Rajon PG BOS
Rose, Derrick PG CHI
Chandler, Wilson SF NY
Deng, Luol SF CHI
Millsap, Paul PF UTA
Randolph, Zach PF LAC
Lopez, Brook C NJ
Lee, David PF NY

Stevenson, DeShawn SG
Martin, Kenyon PF DEN
Dalembert, Samuel C PHI

Considering I had the 10th pick in the draft, I think I did pretty well. Yes, I'm super lame and I drafted my boyfriend. I don't care what you think about it. It was a very smart solid move and I stand by it. As a matter of fact, here's the report CBS issued to fantasy owners about David today:

Latest News: Knicks F/C David Lee had 19 rebounds in Sunday's game against Detroit, giving him nine straight double-doubles. He has had no less than 11 rebounds in any of those games.(Updated 12/08/2008).

Fantasy Analysis: Lee has seen a significant increase in rebounds and scoring since the team traded Zach Randolph away and he's becoming an elite Fantasy center in the process. Right now, there is no reason he should not be starting in any league, even in three-game weeks.

That's all I needed to hear! Keep up the great work, baby! Bring the fantasy points on home to mama ;)

More on my fantasy basketball endeavors as the season progresses. Tips are appreciated!

Swoon!

So I just found this old interview David Lee did with the New York Post and I'm squealing like a little girl! The interview is from January 2007 and David makes several comments that prove to me we are soul mates. Allow me to share a few with you all. The bold responses make me especially happy.

Q: Do you get a kick out of being a crowd favorite?

A: I enjoy it because I love New York and I love playing here.

Q: Favorite Billy Donovan story?

A: During the recruiting process ... he would show up [at] my high school. He would be out in the parking lot and would just say hello to me, shake my hand and just say, "Hey David, hope you had a good week of school, hope everything's OK ... Gators are thinking about ya," and fly back to Florida. So I gave him the nickname "The Stalker."

Q: Favorite childhood memory?

A: Shooting baskets in the backyard with my mom and dad.

Q: Three wishes?

A: Health; happiness; and more wishes.

Q: Worst habit?

A: (Laughs) Learning how to keep my mouth shut sometimes; sometimes I speak before I think.

Q: Three dinner guests?

A: Jesus; Michael Jordan; Martin Luther King.

Q: If I were president, I would ...?

A: Do more to help the poor people in our country rather than focusing on the rest of the world.

Q: Favorite movie?

A: "The Usual Suspects."

Q: Favorite actor?

A: Kevin Spacey; Denzel.

Q: Favorite actress?

A: Julia Roberts; Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Q: Favorite entertainer?

A: Jay-Z; U-2.

Q: Favorite meal?

A: Steak and potatoes.

We should stop messing around and just get married already.

Read the rest of the interview here.

Boogie Hasn't Forgotten Her #1 Boyfriend

Dear David Lee,

I'm feeling you.

I'm feeling you on offense and defense.

I'm feeling that two-man game you got going on with Chris Duhon. (I'm partial to Dukies.)

I'm feeling that pick and roll action I saw vs. the Trail Blazers tonight.

I'm feeling all those double-doubles you've been coming up with lately.

I'm feeling you switching positions from forward to center. (That sounds dirty.)

I'm feeling you scoring a career high 37 points and 21 rebounds against Golden State on Saturday night, making you the first Knicks player to get 30-and-20 in a game since Patrick Ewing in 1994.

I am feeling you as an important factor in what I hope will be the Knicks first postseason appearance since 2004.

And I'm gonna head down to the Garden and visit you just as soon as I can convince one of my lame ass friends to come with me.

I'm sorry, but I just can't sit in the Garden and scream your name all by myself. I'm a little nutty, but I'm not pathetic.

Keep holding it down, and I'll see you soon.

Kisses,
Boogie

Boogie's Baller Boyfriend

Everyone who knows me also knows that I have a lot of boyfriends. I use that word to refer to every good looking guy that I know of including athletes, musicians, friends' significant others, brothers, fathers, and complete strangers walking down the street. My real life boyfriends have never been fond of this trait, but who cares what they think?

With that said, I'd like to introduce you to my shiny new NBA baller boyfriend, and rising star here in New York, Mr. David Lee.

mmm hmm, ya'll. It's on.

David is a 25 year old Taurus power forward from St. Louis, Missouri who played his college ball for the Florida Gators before the Knicks drafted him in 2005. He's become a fan favorite, known for his rebounding skills and intense defense. Yes, my friends, this is all good news.

The bad news it that he has a long time girlfriend. I met her once and she's gorgeous. I hope she won't mind if I borrow him for blogging and daydreaming purposes.

If you're sick of Stars posting about Joe Mauer, you ain't seen nothin' yet!!
